Ben earned his bachelor’s degree as a dual major in Political Science and Mandarin Chinese from Brigham Young University, and his Juris Doctor from The Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law.  While in law school, he distinguished himself by serving on the Executive Board and as the Student Works Editor on the Journal of Law and International Affairs and by receiving multiple merit scholarships.  Ben focused his studies on an array of different areas, including property and constitutional law, business and international business law, criminal law, and family law.  During law school he served the State College community as a certified family law intern.  Ben also served as Secretary and President of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society and worked as a research assistant, mentor, and teaching fellow at the law school and Penn State School of International Affairs Legal Research, Writing, and Analysis program.

After school, Ben worked as a law clerk and bailiff to the Hon. Judge Derek P. Pullan of the Utah 4th District Court in Provo.  There he was exposed to and worked on numerous criminal cases, personal injury law suits, collections, property and estate disputes, contracts, employment, and business cases, and domestic matters, including adoptions, divorce, custody, child support, parentage, divorce modification, and gestational agreements.  As a bailiff and deputy sheriff, he was POST SFO, aerosol defense, and ASP baton certified.
